Nimbrilo
In development
Write Markdown – visually or in source view
Productivity · Mac · Desktop · iPad · iPhone
Features
- Visual editing and Markdown source view
- Headings, lists, tasks, tables and code
- Import local images and carry them along when saving
- Search, undo and redo
- Local recovery of unsaved work
- PDF output on Mac and iPad
Write notes, guides and other texts in Markdown without constantly thinking about syntax. Nimbrilo displays supported content directly in its visual editor. Switch to source view whenever you need it; HTML, footnotes, Mermaid and formulas are preserved there and currently cannot be edited visually.
Your documents remain ordinary local Markdown files. Images are stored in an accompanying assets folder and copied along when you save under a new name. Share the document and its image folder together. Working with local files and images requires no internet connection or user account.
After a short pause in typing, your unsaved draft is backed up locally and offered for recovery after a restart. You explicitly save the original file yourself; changes made by other programs are detected before it is overwritten.
Nimbrilo is in development. Current verification focuses on macOS. Builds and automated tests have passed on Ubuntu 24.04; a complete native usability review is still pending. iPadOS has been tested in the simulator, while iPhone and Windows have not yet passed acceptance testing. No installation, App Store or TestFlight release is currently published. PDF output is available on Mac and iPad; it is still missing on Linux and Windows.
